Horseback Riding

This program involves the group being split into two groups of four for which each group rides at Thorncroft Therapeutic Riding Center on an every other day basis. Lessons at Thorncroft are an hour in length. On the days that campers do not ride, they visit places in the area that relate to horseback riding: Cheshire Hunt Club, a scavenger hunt at a saddle shop, and visits to other local horse farms. With a group size capacity of eight campers, priority is given to returning campers and then first year campers if spots are still available. This program is available for sessions 1 and 2 only.

Offered Session 1: June 28, 2010—July 9, 2010

Offered Session 2: July 12, 2010—July 23, 2010

Fee: $600

Special Notes: As the camp contracts for horseback riding, we expect all riders to participate fully through the sessions in which thy are enrolled. Placements in riding sessions may be made in consultation with riding instructors. No camper can begin riding without a current physical. For riders diagnosed with Down Syndrome, this must include a recent (2 years or less) x-ray for atlanto-axial instability.
