Expedition

Emphasizing health and fitness, community service, woodworking, and outdoor activity, Expedition Camp is focused on gaining useful skills for life for youth aged 18 to 21 years old while promoting goal setting and achievement, helping prepare campers for the transition from school to the working world. The result is campers gaining confidence and a sense of self-worth. Through various activities, campers are involved with community outreach (visiting Pocopson Home, participating in the Gleaning Project), personal fitness (working out twice a week), and completing projects in woodworking and landscaping. Campers also learn life skills such as riding public transportation (with SEPTA visiting camp for an on-site demonstration) and personal safety. During the third session, Expedition Campers are partnering with a community organization, Cooking for Real, to learn food prep and gardening skills.

Offered: June 28, 2010—August 6, 2010

Fee: $1,650

Special Notes: Campers aged 18 to 21 participate in the Expedition program, a six-week program. Expedition is age-appropriate and life-skills based.
